Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected across the southern counties this morning...with a shift to along and north of I-40 tonight. Heavier precipitation will remain over this area through Saturday night as well...with the southern counties of the watch seeing a period of lighter activity for Friday and Friday night. Additional rainfall totals of 2 to 5 inches is anticipated through late Saturday night. Localized higher amounts are possible. Very moist soils due to recent rainfall will result in significant run-off. Flooding is occurring or expected along many of the rivers and tributaries. In North Mississippi, Alcorn, Benton, Coahoma, DeSoto, Marshall, Panola, Quitman, Tate, Tippah, and Tunica. In Southeast Missouri, Dunklin and Pemiscot. In West Tennessee, Benton, Carroll, Chester, Crockett, Decatur, Dyer, Fayette, Gibson, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, Henry, Lake, Lauderdale, Madison, McNairy, Obion, Shelby, Tipton, and Weakley. * Through late Saturday night * Heavy rainfall is expected across much of the Mid-South. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible, with localized higher amounts. Another round of heavy rainfall is expected Friday through Saturday night. * Runoff from heavy rainfall may result in rapid rises in river, stream, and creek levels.
